Welcome to Calvary! “Christ – Serving People – Through His People.”
What a great way to understand God’s love and how much He cares for each of us – ‘Christ, serving people, through His people.’ Our Lord Jesus has truly given His all for us – through His life, death, and resurrection – and we are grateful for God’s mercy and love He has lavishly given us through His Son. In my relatively short time serving here I have fast understood that Calvary is a place where people matter to one another, for all people mean the world to God Himself. The people of Calvary truly have a heart to know and worship the Lord Jesus, as well as to share His love in many practical ways in our local community. We feel so blessed that God has served us by giving His all for us, and we seek to share that simple blessing with everyone around us. So too, we know that many are searching for real belonging and a desire to know a peace that this world cannot offer. For hope and life and peace, we look to Jesus Christ, God’s Word in human flesh.
I have been blessed to see the Lord working actively in the lives of people throughout my journey with Him. After graduating from Australian Lutheran College in 2004, I was privileged to serve among the people of the Robertstown Parish, SA. I grew to appreciate country life and living, where community connections and service mean everything. I then served in Perth, WA, for over a decade, where among many blessings, I discovered a heart for ministry in music, ministry among children and youth, and ministry to those in need. These days, I serve among the Calvary community which also includes a Primary School and Kindergarten. I love how God’s people in this community truly care for one another – no matter what hand life has dealt to them. Our on-site community services include free community lunches on Thursdays, Oz Harvest surplus food giveaways, an emergency pantry, and a well-loved Op Shop. In these ways we love to serve the local community in our southern suburbs. Among simply being a caring community of faith, we gather regularly around the gifts of God’s Word and Jesus’ precious meal, where God Himself serves us in our needs of body and soul.
Personally, I love how richly God’s Spirit-filled Word points us always to Jesus, the Christ, and how important and powerful Christ is to change hearts and lives to know the truth of God’s grace and mercy towards people. No matter where you are in life, or your age, background, or ethnicity, you are welcome among us as a child of God.
May you be blessed as you seek a place of belonging and grace among community – a place where you may celebrate the God who loves you, and where you may grow to discover who God has truly made you to be through Christ His Son.
In Him,
- Pastor André.

Worship – Every Sunday 9.30am (with Holy Communion)
We give thanks each week as we hear God’s Word, seek to grow in our faith in Jesus, are strengthened for service in our community, and are invited to freely respond to God’s grace. We welcome all ages including children and families, and include a children’s address each week. We also offer a children’s time during worship (dependent on numbers). Everyone is warmly welcomed to join us afterwards for some fresh coffee and morning tea.
